This page plays the same role as the “parent” page in the “About” section, a home page for certain pages that once posted, won’t be changed other than to update the content of those pages, as needed.
This is a “parent” page, and will have “children”, and perhaps “grandchildren” pages. This layout is often used by Themes in the live preview feature for them.
Same functionality, different reason.
I’ts gonna be a GoodThing™!
